As I said now we are all on our own out in a free area..well no ranger has visited ..guess they may in busy seasons..but tonight its just us and the creatures..we had a cheeky King Parrot join us for dinner tonight but he only got to look. We went wandering along some tracks tonight looking for any signs of local wildlife..only a few birds and terrifying clouds of mossies…now am safe inside our lovely mossie proof tent….suuweeet Goodnite J

..Now I have to take a wee moment here to say we have not had many warm nights sleep out on the road..sort of regretting not taking our good qualofill sleeping bags, so its into thermals tonight…we are truly in the bush now…there is no one camping round us( we are all alone), its at a place called Jerusalem Creek somewhere in the Lake Elidon National Park.
We rode up to Alexandra first today to buy a box and unload some excess baggage (just over 9kg ) that’s now on its way to my cuzzie Lara’s. We then went up to the dam above Elidon after riding down to the lake.

We stayed the night back at a camp at Black spur, lovely spot in amongst tall trees and plenty of King Parrots. Met a couple and their wee 11year old Aussie terrier that were actually pushbiking with trailers on the back..one just for the wee dog. They live down here in Victoria but had just cycled all the way up to Cairns and were heading home with about 70k’s to go…made us look lazy hahaha.

.. packed up after a cold night and headed up toward Marysville stopping first at Healesville for a wander and a coffee, then rode to Marysville and had lunch up there, beautiful ride in through Black Spur, both behaving and keeping under speed limits as Victorian Police are extremely vigilant and have no tolerances like NZ’s 10k’s, if you’re goin fast look out.
Marysville is undergoing extensive redevelopment after the fires tore through the town in ¹hour killing 30 0f its 500 inhabitants (killed a total of 173 in all) Its hard to get your head around a tragedy like that. As we rode past all the trees that had been scorched looked like they had vines growing on them but were told its whats called stress growth where shoots start sprouting up the trunk of the trees.

Tom Tom to the rescue…well it did try I guess.. our first camp led us a couple of k’s down a gravel road, the other tourists in a van shaking their heads was probably a dead giveaway all was not well..our camping ground was a scout camp, all locked up of course. Second camping ground turned out to be what we can only presume as a new housing development, 3rd time lucky..one could wish that, but the tourist camp, didn’t really mean camping hard core…it was for caravans, fair go so after asking where we could go got directed to a big 4 (like NZ’s Top 10) Met some folk there who told us of some good roads up toward Marysville where the tragic Black Sunday fires were back in Feb last year
