Hi there darl's yes straight out of Kathy n Kim aye lol
Now we have had the comment from a few now saying Jeez what are you riding? Snails? When we left we said we are riding round Oz but didn't mean that quite literally as in a straight out ride to cover the whole distance in a non stop way..we want to spend time looking around the country and living it and as we go we keep getting awesome tips from the locals . Last I wrote we were staying another night at Wilsons Prom as it was such fun & was such a beautiful place with awesome walks, lovely birds and bad naughty piggy wombats and the possum bandits too. Hmm well most may know the wombat story ...Met some neat people there, and while we were at their site having a lovely social time drinking(black Russians.. Yip am truly on
slippery slope lol) and eating chocolate and nuts etc a wombat made his own entrance into our tent and opened a plastic container and got into the weetbix and left crumbs everywhere but we found out from the guy that fixed our tent.. We were lucky as they often leave by yet another hole, meanwhile where we were visiting the possums were like a tag team grabbing stuff and trying to run with it. We were pretty sad to leave this gem of a park and headed back to Melbourne Tuesday...I was wondering why... as I have previously said Melbourne is a cool city but after being out of it in small places and then the National Park I found it hard going returning to the big city with all the noise and traffic and people.( There's no such thing as a quiet night in town, people appear to be out in the cafes & clubs till all hours EVERY night of the week)
After taking the tent into town to be mended we had a wander through bike shops.. Sigh but I did eventually get him down to Southbank and a coffee/ Bruscetta followed by gelato then we did a bit of random tram riding..cos we could!, bought a day pass so was good just hopping on and off. Went to the Botanic gardens & saw Aussie cousins of our Pukekos but they not as pretty as ours.
Today we packed up...oh going back you have to laugh at the attention we get doing that, people stand there and say we just cant believe you will ever get that on your bikes, but as a dear friend always said "everything in its place and a place for
everything".. and so we rode into the heart of the CBD to pick up tent..for those that know me I fretted all night thinking bout riding into the madness with my bike fully laden..how/where will I park .. hope I don't have to do any hook turns (unique to Melbourn CBD only) but I managed it..yes stress stomach and all, can't tell you how glad I was to hit the highway and head for the Great Ocean Road and man was it
hot..yay
I pulled ahead of Bevin and hit the gas and when we got to Geelong exit he
signalled did I want to go in ..nah no way not another
city, I was still too rattled.. so kept going till we got to a the seaside town of Lorne for a break. We then stopped in Apolla Bay to grab a bit of tucker for our nights stop which was a `wee spot called Aire River East(Otway National Park)24k's on and its
Free!!
